Crazy Pace

By June 4, 2015Uncategorized

Well, it has been a while since I have had some time to take to my computer and type up a blog post.

Honestly, it has just been a crazy pace this year – far crazier than I imagined! I thought that I would try to move in the direction of reducing work hours for 2015, with the motto of “working smarter, not harder.” Well, I have in excess of 1200 hours in this year so my workload has not slowed down. Hopefully, though, I am working smarter!

My commitment to those of you in this industry has always been to share my knowledge in a manner that I hope will be beneficial to the industry in always seeking to raise the bar of excellence in quality construction projects, and this year has been exceptionally busy in that regard.

The year kicked off with the highly successful release of my book, The Complete Field Guide To Ensuring Quality Geosythetics Installations, Volume 1: Fundamentals & Geomembranes, which coincided with my three speaking engagements at the Geosynthetics 2015 Conference in Portland. I am overwhelmed by your support for the book and I appreciate your generous feedback! A sincere thank you!

Since then, much has gone on “behind the scenes.” I have been continuing my push for education through papers and short course proposals written for submittal to various conferences throughout the world. I am pleased to announce that I was chosen to present my paper, CQA, Zero-Leak Liners, and the role of geosynthetics as an asset in mining, at PERUMIN 2015! I am truly honored to be a part of the world’s largest mining event where over 100,000 attendees are expected!

With the Subtitle D regulations now governing coal-ash disposal, we have ramped up our educational push for this industry. The government has established a very short time-line for compliance, which has exuded extreme pressure on owners. This is a critical time for these owners, so it is essential that these owners be able to make informed decisions regarding the installation of geosynthetics, instead of knee-jerk reactions that could cost them substantially in the future.

As part of our commitment to supporting the coal-ash industry, we attended the World of Coal Ash Conference in Nashville a month ago. From this conference, we realized that in order to help serve the coal-ash community better, we needed to add a renowned industry expert to our team as a professional consultant. We have taken that step and an announcement should be forthcoming shortly!

And, coming full-circle back to the blog, we have been working on some special additions to the blog coming up in the near future, such as video blogs, and guest bloggers from top industry personnel.

I am looking forward to spending more time over the summer interacting with you! There should be plenty of exciting content, as well as exciting announcements, coming in the very near future!

Thank you for all your support!
