Do You See What Glen Sees? (Vol. 9)

By March 20, 2025Uncategorized

First, the answer to Vol. 8 (last week).

Surprisingly, the biggest issue here is not the flipped body of the articulated haul truck; it is the laborer working directly downslope from the equipment! I’m not sure where the laborer was when the body flipped but people should avoid working directly downslope from active equipment, no matter how safe it may seem.

From a quality standpoint, inspections should be performed once the truck has been removed from the area for fluid leaks/contaminated soils. An assessment should also be performed to determine if examining the geosynthetics is required where the truck body hit the soil and where the dozer may have deeper penetration into/through the soil as a result of trying to get the truck body upright.

We were indeed lucky that no one was hurt!

In these blog posts, Do You See What Glen Sees, I will present a photograph or short video related to earthwork or geosynthetics construction and have you identify the significance of what you’re seeing.

It could be things being done correctly or incorrectly. Primarily, these will be things that impact quality.

In addition to my blog, I’ll post this content on X and LinkedIn. You can post your response on one of those two.

I’ll give you my thoughts on each photo or video when I post the next installment.

Do you see what I see?  Or did you find something I missed?  I’m excited to find out!

Here is the next installment. Take a good look. Do You See What Glen Sees?

Are you enjoying these photos as much as I am? So far, most if not all of these have been photographs I’ve taken so on the personal side, there is often a trip down memory lane involved with each photograph.

The aftermath of a storm is always difficult to deal with. Some deal with it better than others.

Let me know your thoughts and concerns you see in this image!
